I am deeply inspired by the human figure. I am fascinated that human emotion can be shown simply by the body’s pose or position, a face is not even necessary. Deux-Pairs ( a play on the concept of "two" and the word "despair"), depicts a man and a woman in a state of despair, painted in a loose style with thick color application, using mostly palette knives. I focused on bold color choices, varying light and dark tones, intuitively applying the color. Often, I do not assign a specific skin color to my figures. Skin tones are usually achieved with greys and blues and then adding other bold colors, like oranges, reds, and greens. I chose a red solid background which puts the figures into a strong focus, emphasizing their inner emotions.
